Angry Orchard

Walden, Orange County

A working cidery on 60 acres of apple orchards in the Hudson Valley, Angry Orchard hosts events in a setting that has been growing fruit since the 1920s — from the historic stone barn to open orchard grounds that can accommodate everything from intimate dinners to celebrations of several hundred guests. The cider is made here, the apples grow here, and that rootedness in the land shows.

The Appel Inn

Altamont, Albany County

Nestled on 36 acres in Altamont with a 250-year-old tavern at its center, The Appel Inn has been hosting celebrations since 1983 — with a covered creekside ceremony site, a warm gathering hall, and an owner who has spent decades making sure every event runs the way it should. It's the kind of place that earns its reputation one wedding at a time.

Autocamp

Saugerties, Ulster County

A design-forward glamping resort in the Catskills just outside Saugerties, AutoCamp offers Airstreams, modern cabins, and canvas tents on well-tended grounds with views of the surrounding mountains. The dedicated Clubhouse and gathering spaces make it equally well-suited to wedding weekends, corporate retreats, and the kind of event where guests don't want to leave.

Black Walnut Farm

Saugerties, Ulster County

A meticulously restored 1891 barn on 34 private acres in Saugerties, Black Walnut Farm sits on land that has been farmed since 1747 — and the history is present in every hand-hewn beam and stone wall on the property. Multiple ceremony sites, on-site lodging for eight, and a team that genuinely enjoys doing this make it one of the more interesting barn venues in the region.

Blue Bird Farm

Medusa, Albany County

Set on over 100 acres in Medusa with mountain views and a bubbling creek, Bluebird Farm has been in the same family since 1945, and the 1885 post-and-beam barn at its center shows the kind of care that comes with that kind of ownership. Up to 150 guests, on-site lodging in an eight-bedroom farmhouse, and a property that photographs better than almost anywhere in Albany County.

BridleWood Dressage & Equestrian Center

Hillsdale, Columbia County

A working horse farm in the Berkshire foothills of Columbia County, BridleWood's renovated event barn — hung with wrought iron chandeliers and flanked by green pastures — seats up to 100 for dinner, with a flat grass arena alongside for a sailcloth tent. Horses graze on the other side of the fence throughout, which is either the charm of the place or its whole identity, depending on who you ask.

Cavalli

Coxsackie, Greene County

A 90-acre farm estate in Coxsackie with a restored barn, open grounds, and Catskill Mountain views, Cavalli has the operational experience to pull off ambitious events and the personality to make them feel like something other than a production. The horses are a bonus.

Clermont State Historic Site

Germantown, Columbia County

A National Historic Landmark on 500 acres overlooking the Hudson River, Clermont was home to seven generations of the Livingston family from 1728 onward — and the riverside lawns, walled gardens, and wooded ceremony sites still carry that weight. One event per weekend, a landscape that does most of the work, and river views that are hard to argue with.

Eastwind Resorts

Windham, Greene County

A boutique hotel in the heart of Windham with Scandinavian-inspired design and views of Windham Mountain, Eastwind hosts weddings and private events against a backdrop of wildflower meadows and Catskill mountain scenery. The property offers Airstreams, Lushna cabins, and a sauna alongside dedicated event spaces — the kind of place where guests arrive for the weekend and don't particularly want to leave.

Gather Greene

Coxsackie, Greene County

Designed from scratch for multi-day celebrations, Gather Greene sits on 100 acres between the Catskill and Berkshire Mountains with a 4,000-square-foot open-air Pavilion, a shale quarry pond, and 17 modern cabins that function as a private hotel block. The range of outdoor spaces — ceremony sites in the woods, a sunset deck, a fire pit quarry for the after-party — means the weekend can feel genuinely different from one moment to the next.

Glynwood

Cold Spring, Putnam County

A 225-acre working regenerative farm in Cold Spring, Glynwood hosts events in a 1920s fieldstone house and a secluded boathouse on a private lake — with the kind of quiet that comes from land that has been farmed with intention for decades. The farm is still actively producing food, and the presence of that work is something guests feel the moment they arrive.

The Hangar at 743

Latham, Albany County

An 8,000-square-foot event space on the grounds of Albany International Airport, The Hangar at 743 houses a private collection of fully operational World War II aircraft that remain on the floor throughout every event. When the hangar door opens to the active runway, it becomes something that guests genuinely don't expect and don't forget.

Hardeman Orchards

Red Hook, Dutchess County

A family farm on 170 acres in Red Hook that has been protected by conservation easement, Hardeman Orchards hosts events in a 1850s Dutch barn and on orchard grounds with Catskill Mountain views rolling out in three directions. The 1786 stone farmhouse sleeps eight and serves as a private retreat for the wedding party throughout the weekend.

Hayfield

Maplecrest, Greene County

Two lovingly restored barns in a Catskill State Park valley at the foot of Hunter and Windham Mountains, Hayfield sits at roughly the highest elevation of any wedding venue in New York State — surrounded by waterfalls, hiking trails, and a landscape that shifts noticeably with every season. The venue hosts only a handful of events per year, and that restraint shows in the attention each couple receives.

Hotel Lilien

Tannersville, Greene County

A boutique hotel, cocktail bar, and event venue built from an 1890s estate in Tannersville, Hotel Lilien has 18 individually appointed guest rooms, a wooded lawn for tented receptions, and a basement speakeasy for after-parties. It sits minutes from Hunter Mountain and the town's best restaurants, which makes it easy to build a full weekend around.

Hutton Brickyards

Kingston, Ulster County

A riverfront venue in Kingston with industrial-chic brick architecture and unobstructed views of the Hudson, Hutton Brickyards offers multiple ceremony spaces and on-site accommodation — and a sunset over the river that has become something of a signature of the place. It's one of the most recognizable venues in the Hudson Valley for a reason.

Indian Ridge

Highland, Ulster County

A 300-acre working preserve in Highland with a lakeside ceremony site, a stone waterfall, apple orchards, and a post-and-beam barn, Indian Ridge offers the full run of the property for the weekend — including on-site lodging in two Airbnbs on the grounds. The flexibility here is genuine: no mandatory vendors, no hard curfews, no sense of being moved through.

The Inn at Kettleboro

New Paltz, Ulster County

A classic bed and breakfast on a 12-acre apple and peach orchard just outside New Paltz, The Inn at Kettleboro has panoramic views of the Shawangunk Ridge and a 200-year-old Dutch Colonial home that owners Robert and Michael have turned into one of the most personal event spaces in the region. Intimate by design — the venue hosts four or five events per year, typically for 25 to 30 guests.

Kiernan Farm

Gardiner, Ulster County

A second-generation working cattle farm and vineyard in Gardiner beneath the Shawangunk Mountains, Kiernan Farm has a Revolutionary War-era hand-hewn barn, rolling pastures, a vineyard, and a farmhouse that sleeps the wedding party for the weekend. One or two events per month keeps it from ever feeling like a machine.

Kismet House

Clintondale, Ulster County

On 62 acres of former apple orchards just outside New Paltz, Kismet House centers on a classic red barn, a privately nestled pond for ceremonies, and farmhouse accommodations for up to 24 guests on site. The pond at sunset, in particular, is the kind of thing that ends up in every photographer's portfolio.

Ledge Rock Hill Winery

Lake George, Warren County

A family-owned winery and vineyard on the shores of Lake George, Ledge Rock Hill offers a tasting room, a wooded private event area, and a patio overlooking the water for rehearsal dinners, showers, and intimate celebrations. The Adirondack setting is a genuine departure from the Hudson Valley's more familiar venues — and for the right event, that distance is exactly the point.

Locust Grove

Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County

A 19th-century Italianate estate and nonprofit nature preserve on the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, Locust Grove was originally built for telegraph inventor Samuel Morse and sits on 200 acres of formal gardens and hiking trails. The West Gallery seats up to 150 for dinner, the rose garden serves as a ceremony backdrop, and one event per evening means the property is always entirely yours.

Locust Hill Barn

Ghent, Columbia County

A 6,200-square-foot hilltop barn in Ghent with views of a clay pond, neighboring fruit orchards, and rolling Columbia County pastures, Locust Hill Barn is the kind of venue where the setting does the work and the barn gives it structure. The surrounding wildflower fields and the light at golden hour have a way of making even simple events look extraordinary.

The Maples Estates

Schoharie, Schoharie County

Nestled just west of the Hudson Valley in the Schoharie Valley, The Maples Estate offers exclusive multi-day access to an elegant country property with spacious grounds suited to celebrations of all sizes. The full-weekend rental format gives couples and their guests a pace that a single Saturday evening simply can't replicate.

Mark's Good Apples Farm

Bloomville, Delaware County

A former dairy farm on 44 acres in the Catskill foothills, Mark's Good Apples Farm brings a 1790s farmhouse, a restored post-and-beam barn, working orchards, and mountain views to events that are shaped around what the land actually is. The property passed through the hands of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the 1970s, and it still carries a certain energy that's difficult to explain and easy to feel.

Meadowbrook Farm

Leeds, Greene County

A working flower farm on 120 acres in Leeds, Meadowbrook Farm Catskills grows more than 20 varieties of sunflowers alongside dahlias, zinnias, and clary sage — and has built a climate-controlled barn, a gable-style tent, and a custom silo bar around that foundation. The flowers are not decoration here; they're the whole point.

The Mod House

Ellenville, Ulster County

A solar-powered midcentury modern retreat built in 1959 in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, The Mod House sits on three wooded acres near the Shawangunk Ridge with floor-to-ceiling windows, an open-plan layout, and a basement speakeasy called Love, Velma — fully equipped with a bar, stage, and dance floor. It's a venue with a strong and specific personality, which means it works best for couples who share it.

Mount Gulian Historic Site

Beacon, Dutchess County

A 1730s Dutch Colonial homestead on 44 acres overlooking the Hudson River in Beacon, Mount Gulian has an 18th-century barn, a heritage garden of antique roses and peonies, and a riverside lawn that was the backdrop for Revolutionary War history long before it became a wedding venue. One event per weekend, no exceptions.

Opus 40

Saugerties, Ulster County

Founded in 1978, Opus 40 is an earthwork sculpture park and museum in Saugerties — six acres of hand-laid bluestone with views of the Catskill Mountains, available for private event rentals that put guests inside one of the Hudson Valley's most singular and irreplaceable landscapes. There is no comparable backdrop in the region.

The Outlier Inn

Woodridge, Sullivan County

A 14-acre farm in the Southern Catskills with tiny houses, geodesic domes, an Airstream trailer, and a wooded amphitheater, The Outlier Inn offers full-weekend wedding packages that give couples and up to 75 guests exclusive run of the property from Friday through Sunday. The owner, Joshua, has been running the place for nearly 20 years, and that continuity of care is something guests notice.

Owls Hoot Barn

Coxsackie, Greene County

A historic 1800s bank barn complex on a hilltop in Coxsackie with wildflower fields and a willow-lined creek, Owls Hoot Barn seats up to 180 guests under original hand-hewn beams with an attached pavilion available for cocktail hours and rain plans. The Catskill Mountain views from the ceremony field are among the better ones in Greene County.

The Perch

East Windham, Greene County

A mountaintop boutique hotel in East Windham with panoramic views across five states, The Perch sits at 2,000 feet elevation with 16 renovated guest rooms, fire pits, stone gardens, and a pergola that makes an exceptional ceremony backdrop. A full property buyout gives couples and their guests the entire hotel for the weekend.

Pine Brook Manor

Sparrow Bush, Orange County

A 110-acre estate in the Catskill foothills near the Delaware River, Pine Brook Manor has a forest chapel ceremony site, a grand lawn overlooking a Mill Pond for receptions, and eight boutique inn rooms for on-site lodging. The reclaimed-timber event hall was built from the original barn that stood on the property — which says something about how the owners think about the place.

Riverview Estate by Brophy

Fishs Eddy, Delaware County

Set on over 1,200 mountainside acres with a mile of river frontage along the Upper Delaware, Riverview Estate by Brophy offers exclusive-use weekend rental of a three-dwelling luxury estate with riverbank ceremony grounds and a White Birch banquet hall lined with birch trees and wagon wheel chandeliers. The combination of scale, privacy, and on-site lodging for 32 makes it a genuine destination.

Rustic Ridge View

Kerhonkson, Ulster County

A 150-acre family-owned horse farm at the foot of the Shawangunk Mountains, Rustic Ridge View offers a hilltop ceremony site with 360-degree mountain views and a weatherproof pavilion hung with glowing paper lanterns for the reception. The property runs Friday through Sunday with no mandatory vendors and no hard curfews — a setup that is less common than it should be.

Senate Garage

Kingston, Ulster County

A converted 1921 garage on the grounds of the Senate House State Historic Site in Kingston's Stockade District, Senate Garage offers 8,500 square feet of exposed brick, steel-frame windows, and high ceilings a short walk from some of the best restaurants and hotels in the Hudson Valley. The adjacent 18th-century colonial gardens are available for outdoor ceremonies from May through October.

Serendipity Lake House

Windham, Greene County

A lakeside retreat in Windham with a rustic lodge, waterside ceremony options, a tented reception lawn, and three log cabins for on-site guests, Serendipity Lake House accommodates up to 26 overnight guests across the main lodge and surrounding cabins. The water is the thing here — the light it throws in the evening makes every gathering feel more considered than it actually had to be.

Stonehill's Farmhouse

Accord, Ulster County

A cozy retreat, tavern, and barn wedding venue in Accord with a working rescue farm on the grounds, Stonehill's Farmhouse has on-site accommodations, a genuinely warm atmosphere, and the kind of unpretentious Hudson Valley character that takes years to develop and can't be manufactured. It's a place where guests arrive as strangers and leave feeling like they've been somewhere real.

Stonewall Estate

Delancey, Delaware County

Nestled in the Schoharie Valley with the Catskill Mountains as a backdrop, Stonewall Estate offers weekend-long exclusive access to a property well-suited to both intimate gatherings and larger affairs — with the kind of unhurried pace that only comes from having a place entirely to yourselves for three days. The mountains are everywhere here, and the event shapes itself around them.

Sweet Flower Farm

Copake, Columbia County

A working flower farm between Hillsdale and Copake in the Harlem Valley, Sweet Flower Farm hosts farm dinners, workshops, and intimate gatherings on a property being actively restored through permaculture and sustainable land management. The gardens — dahlias, peonies, native plantings, poppies — are the event, not just the backdrop.

Taconic Ridge Farm

Hillsdale, Columbia County

Beautifully situated where the Taconic Range meets the Berkshire Mountains in Hillsdale, Taconic Ridge Farm has a preserved barn with 31-foot ceilings, a pavilion bar, a creek running through the grounds, and on-site lodging for up to 16. The full-weekend rental format puts the Berkshires, Hudson, and Great Barrington all within a few minutes — which guests tend to take full advantage of.

Whitecliff Vineyard & Winery

Gardiner, Ulster County

An artisanal family-run winery in Gardiner dedicated to sustainability and vegan winemaking, Whitecliff produces estate wines from Hudson Valley grapes grown on land that has been farmed with real intention. The vineyard setting beneath the Shawangunk Ridge makes it a natural backdrop for events that want something rooted in where they actually are.

Windham Manor

Windham, Greene County

A beautifully appointed 12-bedroom Victorian manor and converted barn estate in Windham, Windham Manor offers full-weekend exclusive access to a property that its owners deliberately built around relationships with local vendors, caterers, and the town itself. Every event here has the Catskills in the background — which is, more often than not, exactly where you want them.

The Wire

Coxsackie, Greene County

A converted industrial event space in historic Coxsackie, The Wire offers a striking blank canvas — high ceilings, raw architecture, a flexible floor plan — for larger celebrations that want something genuinely different from the region's barn and estate venues. Kingston, Hudson, and the rest of the Hudson Valley are all within easy reach.
